OnlyFans creators have begged people to keep supporting porn stars and sex workers after the site announced plans to ban sexually explicit content.

Earlier this month, the platform announced that they would ban racy videos and images from October 1.

But, after a huge backlash from creators, the site announced today (August 25) that the policy change has been suspended following “assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community”.

Creators on OnlyFans can currently post any type of content they like, but the site is perhaps best known for its pornographic creators.

Now, these creators have expressed their concerns about the impact a prospective ban might have on sex workers who use funds from subscribers to survive.

Speaking on the F**ks Given podcast, Reed Amber, herself a creator on the platform, said: “Don’t boycott OnlyFans.

“Because the people on there, they need you now more than ever.

“It can still be seen as dirty, and taboo, and perverted – which is messed up because honestly if anything, you are the one doing it right.”

So, in the face of possible cuts to income, podcast host Florence Bark urged people to support the porn stars they follow the most.

She said: “Find who they are… and find their only fans, find their subscription site or their website so you can go to them and pay them directly for their content. That would be the best thing you could possibly do to support sex workers. “

This comes after some people reacted to the news of a porn ban being implemented on the site with the hashtag ‘#BoycottOnlyFans’.

However, the hosts of the podcast – who are all OnlyFans creators – said this would be counterproductive and expressed their worry about what might happen when they are no longer able to make money from sexual content on the site.

“The reason I’m able to sit in my own flat today, and can afford my own flat is because of Only Fans”, reflected Amber.

And Florence also said the announcement had made her fearful for the future.

“I’ve been looking for a little place to buy of my own, and that was based on the income I had in the last year, and now that might all completely change.

“What if I buy my house, I have a mortgage and I can’t f***ing pay it?”

Announcing the decision, OnlyFans initially said the move to ban sexually explicit content was necessary to “ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform”.

The platform said that people will still be able to post nude content to the site, but creators are unsure about how this will be policed and the effect it might have on their work.

Following the decision to suspend the policy change announced today (August 25), creators face an anxious wait to find out how their income from sexually explicit content might be affected in the future.
